How do I earn my rent cashback each month?
Rent Cashback Eligibility and Verification
Eligible Payment Methods for Rent Cashback
- Digital Bank Transfers: ACH, Faster Payments, Direct Debit and standing orders a U.S. bank account in your name.
- Card Payments: Debit or Zelle, and ACH made via your property’s online portal.
- Digital Wallets: Transactions via PayPal, Stripe or similar services, provided they are linked to your personal account.
Ineligible Payment Methods
- Cash or check payments.
- Rent paid from someone else’s account or through payroll deductions.
- Shared account payments or third‑party bill consolidation.
- Unsupported peer‑to‑peer apps and prepaid cards not tied to a verifiable bank.
How Rent Payments Are Detected & Verified
Once you link your bank, Fancy scans your transactions to identify recurring rent payments based on amount, frequency and description.
If the system isn’t sure, it prompts you to confirm the transaction and learns from your response.
Uploading your lease details and sending in a copy of your lease can help verify the amount and payee faster.
Verification protects renters and ensures rewards go to the correct individual.
Troubleshooting: Rent Payment Not Found
- Double‑Check Payment Details: Ensure the rent is paid from the linked account, the amount is consistent, and the description includes words like “Rent” or your landlord’s name.
- Wait for Processing: It can take 3-5 business days for a transaction to appear, depending on bank processing times and holidays.
- Manually Tag the Transaction: If prompted, review the list of potential rent transactions and confirm the correct one. This helps the system learn.
- Contact Support: If your payment still isn’t detected, tap Help in the app, choose Rent Tracking Issue and provide a description and screenshot of the payment. Support will ensure your cash back isn’t impacted.
Changing Payment Methods
If you switch banks or cards, go to Account > Rent Settings, select Update Payment Method and follow the linking steps. Fancy will re‑verify your details and resume cash back tracking.
Roommates & Shared Units
Each roommate must create their own Fancy account and link the account they use to pay rent.
If each person pays the landlord separately, each will earn 1 % cash back on their portion.
If one person pays the full rent, only that individual receives cash back.
To verify a shared lease, upload the lease and highlight each person’s rent portion if prompted.
Tracking Progress & Notifications
A progress bar on your dashboard shows how many of the five monthly activities you’ve completed.
The cash back tracker displays your monthly cash back, lifetime earnings and pending rewards from retail purchases or referrals. You can tap each figure for a detailed breakdown.
Under “My Activity” you’ll find a timestamped list of completed tasks and their status. If something is missing, contact support from this screen.
