How do I link my accounts?

How to link your accounts with Plaid:

1. Open the Fancy App.
2. Navigate to Settings by clicking on the three horizontal lines. In ‘My Fancy’ select ‘Manage bank connections’. Click on ‘Link Accounts Now’. 
   Follow the prompts to enter your phone number and connect to Plaid.
3. Choose Your Bank. Select your institution from the list. If it’s not listed, tap “Help” for alternatives.
4. Connect Securely. You’ll be redirected to your bank’s login page to enter your credentials. Fancy never sees or stores your login details.
5. Grant Read‑Only Access. Authorize Fancy (via Plaid) to view your transactions so it can detect rent payments automatically.
6. Done! Fancy will start tracking rent payments immediately. 

Which Accounts Should You Link?

Link the bank account or card you use to pay rent and the card you use for shopping with Fancy’s partners. To maximize rewards, link every account you plan to use for qualifying purchases. 

Why Can’t I Deselect Certain Accounts?

When you reconnect or update a previously linked bank, you might notice that some accounts are pre-selected and grayed out. This happens because Plaid automatically reselects any accounts you’ve already linked and doesn’t allow you to deselect them while connecting to a new service.

If you’d like to remove certain accounts, you’ll first need to unlink or stop sharing data with Plaid directly from your bank’s app or website.
After that, reconnect your bank through Plaid and select only the accounts you want to share.

What If My Institution Isn’t Supported?

If your bank is not available in Plaid, you’ll see an “Institution not supported” message. In this case, you may need to use a different payment method or contact support for alternatives. 

Does Fancy support multiple logins from the same bank?

Yes. Linking the same institution with different credentials creates separate “Items” in Plaid. Each set of credentials generates a new set of account identifiers. 

Unlinking Your Accounts 

To remove a bank connection: open app settings, select the bank under “Linked Accounts,” and tap “Remove.” This deletes the access token and stops data updates. 

You can relink later by following the standard linking process. 

Using Fancy Without Linking Accounts 

You can browse offers and access certain features without linking a bank. However, to earn rent cashback and payment‑linked rewards, account linking is required. 

What Information Does Fancy Receive? 

Fancy partners with Plaid to provide secure, read‑only access to your transactions. The app can detect eligible payments but cannot move money, make changes to your account or see your credentials. 

Your data is encrypted with bank‑level security (AES‑256). Fancy never sells personal information or shares it with third parties for marketing purposes. 

You can pause or unlink your accounts or delete your data at any time within the app settings.
